If you’re looking for a Dog Walker in Toronto, one of the first questions you probably have is: how much does it actually cost?

The answer can vary quite a bit depending on the type of service, the experience of the company, and your dog’s specific needs. In this guide, we’ll break down average dog walking rates in Toronto so you know what to expect and how to choose the right fit.

Average Dog Walking Prices in Toronto

In Toronto, dog walking prices are fairly consistent across reputable companies.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • 30-minute solo walk: $27 to $35

  • 60-minute solo walk: $38 to $55+

  • Group walks: $20 to $40

What Affects the Cost of a Dog Walker?

Not all dog walking services are the same, and pricing usually reflects that.

1. Solo vs. Group Walks

A solo walk means your dog is the only dog on the walk. This is ideal for:

  • Puppies

  • Reactive or nervous dogs

  • Dogs who need more structured attention

  • Dogs who prefer one on one time with a human vs other dogs

Group walk pricing can vary quite a bit, and it often comes down to how the walks are run.

  • Whether the company offers on-leash neighbourhood walks or off-leash park adventures

  • The number of dogs in the group

  • The length of time your dog is out (a 60-minute walk vs. a multi-hour outing)

For example, smaller, structured on-leash group walks with 2 to 4 dogs are often priced on the higher end of that range, while larger off-leash dog park visits will be priced differently.

Group walks can be a great fit for well-matched dogs, but they are typically priced lower because the walker is managing multiple dogs at once.

2. Schedule Consistency

At We Wag we only offer walks to people booking a minum of two walks per week. Most companies in the city have a three walk per week minimum. If you find a company who will offer one off walks, you will likely pay a premium.

Consistent scheduling is one of the most important factors in providing reliable, high-quality dog walking.

These are the reasons we have walk minimums. First, it allows us to maintain a reliable team of professional dog walkers who can depend on a consistent schedule. This consistency is what allows us to retain experienced walkers and provide dependable service to our clients.

It also helps us manage routes effectively, ensuring we can meet our walk windows and remain available to clients when they need us. Especially because 80% of clients book walks in the same time window, which is between 11am - 2pm.

Consistency also helps to allow us to assign the same walker to your dog. Over time, this builds familiarity and trust between the walker, the dog, and the owner, which leads to a much smoother and more positive experience.

For dogs participating in group or semi-private walks, regular scheduling also allows them to become familiar with the other dogs they are paired with, creating more stable, safe and appropriate group dynamics.

From experience, we have found that dogs who are not walked regularly are far more likely to struggle on walks with a walker. Without consistency, it is difficult for them to settle into a routine or build a relationship with their walker. This can make walks more challenging to manage and less enjoyable for the dog.

Are Cheaper Dog Walkers Worth It?

It can be tempting to choose the lowest price, especially when services look similar on the surface.

But dog walking is not just about getting outside.

You’re trusting someone with:

  • Your dog’s safety

  • Interactions with other dogs and people

  • Your home

Lower-cost services may not include:

  • Proper insurance

  • Structured protocols

  • Consistency in walks

  • Behavioural awareness

In many cases, the difference in price reflects the level of care and professionalism behind the service.

What’s Included in Professional Dog Walking Services?

With a professional company, you’re not just paying for time. You’re paying for structure and reliability.

This typically includes:

  • A consistent dedicated and experienced walker

  • Scheduled walk windows

  • Updates after each walk (With photos)

  • Safe handling and equipment checks

  • Awareness of your dog’s behaviour and needs

For many clients, this consistency is what makes the biggest difference.
